--I finally did it this past week… I played Guitar Hero for the very first time. I failed miserably. I was booed off the stage before the third measure of “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” on the easy setting.

Yeah… I went in all cocky about it. Since I have a limited amount of actual guitar know how, I thought I’d ace it. I have come to the conclusion that non-musicians have the upper hand when playing actual musicians. The guitar controller didn’t react to actual things that I’d do on a real guitar. Guitar Hero brought me down and shoved my tail between my legs for me. Luckily, the dining room in Hugo’s wasn’t packed.

So if you’re a player… Come on out to Hugo’s on Spring Garden Street Thursday nights from 8 to 10. Weather Dave will be hosting all the events and I should be around just listening to Hugo’s manager Carrie talk. She’s got this Jennifer Tilly thing going on with her voice and I would gladly listen to her recite the Gettysburg Address.

--“Too Dangerous For Daylight” has seen a few more readers in the last couple of weeks because my blog has been moved up to the home page at Rock92.com. It’s no longer shoved on the bottom of the “Contact Us” page… It’s now right up front!

--For those new readers… The title of each blog is the musical choice of my day. I won’t go into it, but I only choose one CD to listen to for the day. And from what you have or will see… I’m quite varied when it comes to music.

But it hasn’t always been that way for me…

I used to be one of the most closed minded individuals when it came to my music. KISS introduced me to what has become a life long passion. They lured me in with their bombastic sounds, the garish makeup, the stage show, and ungodly amount of KISS product for my collection.

I remember the first song that I ever heard on the radio… Ram Jam’s “Black Betty”. I was forever hooked on hard rock. That lead me to KISS which lead me to Alice Cooper which lead me to Cheap Trick. I’ve always been attracted to artists that present a show as well as assaulting my ears with their music.

I was very snobby about it too. If it didn’t have a distorted guitar, then I didn’t want to hear it.

Thank God that I got a job at Peaches Music & Video back during Christmas of 1986. Working with all the folks there really opened my mind to other forms of music.

I found country music that wasn’t the crap on the radio. I found the alternative music that was just starting to flourish. I even opened up my heart and ears to classic rockers that I merely tolerated.

But I’m getting the feeling that Weather Dave isn’t really digging on my Zune MP3 player in the office. It’s got everything from the Spice Girls to Metallica… Ratt to Benj-O-Matic… Bobby Lee Springfield to Cheap Trick… And of course KISS to Lisa Dames.

Every so often I will leave the office and come back to find that Weather Dave has turned it down. And I can understand why… Some of the newer MP3’s play at a different volume than the older ones. Kenny Rogers plays at about the same volume of a whisper while The Darkness plays really LOUD.

I gotta find some way to change that…

I love Guitar Hero, but I still kind of suck at it. The Boy got it for Christmas, and he's not that into it yet. I am getting pretty good at Slow Ride.

I would never, ever, ever attempt Guitar Hero in public at this point, though. So kudos to you for trying.

If it makes you feel better I get booed off the stage in my own home. I'm that bad.
