Concrete Blonde 'Mexican Moon'

Last Friday was like any other day… Nothing unusual. Nothing out of sorts. I was wearing my Cheap Trick “On Tour Since ‘74” t-shirt and all was well with the world. Until…

I heard some guy on 2 Guys Named Chris give the rundown of artists performing private concerts during the upcoming High Point Furniture Market. Kool & The Gang… Big whup. I’ve heard “Celebration” and “Joanna” enough already. Although I am always up for some “Jungle Boogie”… Robert Cray… Good, but I can live another day without seeing him. I survived just missing his show years ago when he opened for Huey Lewis & The News… Cheap Trick… I nearly blew a gasket!

Cheap Trick will be performing during a private function! I won’t be able to go. Robin Zander, Rick Nielson, Bun E. Carlos, and Tom Petersson will be less than 10 miles away from me and I won’t be able to get anywhere near them. I’m nearly as frustrated as a priest on Lord Of The Flies Island.

Sure… I can understand God jerking me around with the love of my life… But not Cheap Trick. Why would the Great Spirit do such a thing?

I am hoping for a one-off show and I understand that they are hitting the road with Journey and Heart during the summer. Anyways… I’ve already called in a few favors with my network of liars and backstabbers. I’ll have to wait and see how that pans out.

I may have to wash a car. I may have to give up tickets to another show of their choosing. I may even have to massage someone’s grandmother, but I’ll do it. I just don’t think they’ll be around too much longer and I gotta see ‘em before they cash in their final chips.

--I’m very excited that NASCAR is starting up once again. And I was very proud that Dustin Long (Greensboro News & Record) put this into his article in last Sunday’s paper…

Who's the one guy I should root for?

If you like underdogs, go with Robby Gordon. He's a one-car team. Even if he doesn't finish in the top 10, he can make races interesting. Plus, he's always worth watching on the road courses.

That’s all I got to say on that subject.

The food from Chipotle is wonderful! We were all very thankful and I’m still not hungry 10 hours later!

    ROBERT CRAY?

Who do I have to @#$% to get invited to that?

Or, *ahem* how can I volunteer to help with a fine organization in order to attend? ;)
