Trouble 'Trouble'

Sometimes I will come up with different things to write about in my mind. Sometimes I will write them in my little notebook, but I’ve gotten lazy about doing that lately. So when it comes to sitting in front of this glowing box of gizmos and putting words to the processor today, I coming up empty.

I can’t even come up with an amusing little story from my past years of weird experiences… Oh well.

I did manage to work in a movie from Netflix over the weekend… As boring as that seems… That’s all I got folks.

I watched the new updated version of The Hitcher. I found it to be just an “okay” flick… NOT as good as the original. THAT was a damn good film. The only thing that I really liked about the new version was the fact that they worked in David Soul’s “Don’t Give Up On Us”. A song that’s clearly as cheesy as a factory full of Doritos.

I remember my Aunt Betty absolutely loving that song when it came out. It only increased her love for Detective Ken “Hutch” Hutchinson on Starsky And Hutch. And of course, I loved that show when it was on network television.

When the movie came out, TV Land ran a Starsky And Hutch marathon and I caught a few episodes. I found out that it wasn’t as good as I had remembered. But the car sure was cool!

I don’t think that the show’s producers realized how hot a property the car was going to be. Being a little boy who played with Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars… They didn’t make any Gran Torinos that looked like the one on the TV series. So what did desperate kids like me and my cousin Dan do?

We made our own.

We would get a Gran Torino or a car similar in shape, take it apart (they actually used screws back then… easy to do), sand off the paint, and repaint it red with that white stripe using the best that Testors had to offer. Dan did a much better job on his than I did on mine, but either way… We had our Starsky And Hutch car!

Then the producers eventually put out their own car, but they did something stupid. They put the little red police light on the roof. Totally uncool. I mean… They were detectives, working undercover a lot. How dare they put the “bubble” on the roof!

But then again, what kind of undercover detectives ride around in a flashy red hot rod?

Hey… I’m getting off track here… Back to the updated version of The Hitcher.

It was a decent ride, but overall left me somewhat unsatisfied. I gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

I still have Children Of Men and The Good Shepherd sitting on my entertainment center. I also managed to finally watch all of the first season of The Wild Wild West. Now I’m finally ready to get season three of Rescue Me out of the way because I’m recording the current and fourth season. Ahhhh… To be caught up with that show.

It’s important to have goals.

And this week’s number one MySpace friend is none other than my previously mentioned cousin… Dan Lively.

He’ll be on top for one week! So feel free to visit my MySpace page and don’t forget to show Dan Lively a little love.

Surely you can think of something from your checkered past to write about.

Here's some of the ones I remember:

    1. Kitty Commando

    2. I can't remember which cat, but how about the time in the middle of the night when your cat met your door at a high rate of speed when you tried to toss him out of your room?

    3. Any story involving you, your sisters, their puberty, and the random comments you happened to unload on them. Always a good start to some knock down, drag out fights. Hilarious to watch and hear. Sorry, Tina and Pam.

    4. You and I trying to eat an entire bucket of potato wedges from Holly Farms chicken.

    5. Tracy and his afternoon stops for pizza with ketchup habit. Bleah...

    6. OH! The vampire teeth and your church music director.

    Did this help at all?
