King’s X ‘Gretchen Goes To Nebraska’

I have not been able to adequately update this here blog of mine. And, in my defense, there are several reasons.

1. I write these updates when I’m off work, at home, and at my leisure. I save it on a floppy disc and transport it to work with me. At the station, I can upload the blog online because I don’t have Internet service at home. I gave up my Internet service when the price of gas started affecting my alcohol consumption. I mean really… Something had to go. I need to drive to work in order to make money to purchase my alcohol and pay for the Internet. Once the price of gas made me feel like I had bent over and a Ford Taurus Station Wagon had been inserted up my ass, a budgetary amendment clearly had been made. The Internet was gone and I’m still able to purchase booze and pay for gasoline. The gasoline is an integral part of the equation. No gas… I cannot get to work. No work… No fun or alcohol. The Internet will always be at work and therefore, a non-essential item.

2. In the Promotions office at Dick Broadcasting, home of Rock 92 and 1075 KZL, there once was a little computer that “thought it could” just like the storybook little locomotive. Except this little computer couldn’t and managed to crap the bed, the floors, and the walls on a regular basis. Boys and girls, the computer had recently had enough and couldn’t do its thing any more. And that was the very computer that I used to upload my blog. I have found it difficult to upload my blog on other computers in the station because they are always in use by meaningful people with meaningful jobs. And there are also computers at the station that no longer use the, perhaps outdated, floppy disc because I’m not very computer savvy or as the kids say… “With it.” The computers use some kind of new-fangled memory stick or something like that.

3. And the last reason… The plain and simple truth is that I’ve been busy and not able to write a decent update. My movies from Netflix have been piling up and if you’re a stranger to this blog… Seeing those movies collecting dust gnaws at my soul like “Scrubbing Bubbles” on a bathtub ring.

I did manage to write an update last week on the 14th and I kept forgetting to bring the floppy to work with me so that I could upload it. Here it is and try to enjoy...

Justin Timberlake ‘Futuresex / Lovesounds’

Yes… I’m listening to Justin Timberlake today. Why? Because quite frankly… I’m a fan of mindless pop music. Music doesn’t have to be serious all the time to be enjoyed unless you’re a music snob with very little humor sense.

I ran into those types while jocking at a local college radio station. They looked down their noses at some of the bands that I loved like KISS and Night Ranger. If any band made more money than the Nation of Uganda, then they were considered uncool and unfit for college radio hipsters.

I played KISS, Night Ranger, Spice Girls, and any other supposed cheesy artist on The Non-Conformist Cult Radio Show. There was nothing (other than what the FCC defined as obscene) out of bounds for my radio show. Perhaps that is why my show was one of the most popular shows on that college radio station.

I’m digging on this Justin Timberlake CD and I make no apologies. As someone on Newhart once said over a Larry, Darryl, and Darryl meal… “Good is good!”

Here’s a picture of my new phone….

(Well... I'll try to add the picture later when Blogger isn't acting a fool. Right now, I just don't have the time to fool with it.)

I’m on the Verizon and I dig it. Since I’ve started using a cell phone, I’ve never left Verizon because I love them. Every two years, I renew my contract and get a new phone. I tried to get one without a camera on it to no avail. The store location I went to didn’t even carry phones without cameras. So I caved in and went with the Motorola with a camera. And surprisingly, I’ve found myself playing around with the damn thing.

I also managed to download some ring tones for the first time. I’ve got the Cheap Trick’s “Hello There” for the incoming ring tone. I’ve downloaded a few other tunes for certain friends of mine so I can identify them without looking when they call. And I have Spinal Tap’s “Big Bottom” to identify incoming text messages.

I’ve never had so much fun with a phone when it didn’t involve long distance sex.

I’m thinking about making my own ring tones with MP3’s from my favorite shows and movies. I need me some Green Acres ring tones! And since I can’t find them anywhere, I’ll just make my own.

I’d also like to get a ring tone like an old phone before they went digital and electronic, you know, like the phone on the opening of The Rockford Files. I’d also like to get the sound of the Walton’s screen door creaking open and slamming shut for old girlfriends. That would be cool.

I never knew that phones could be so much fun! No wonder my nieces and nephews want to get their hands on it.

Oh… I wasn’t quite pleased with the DVD from Netflix called Friends With Money. It was okay enough to score 3 out of 5 stars from me, but I can’t recommend it to the general public. So if you’re not into independent films, there’s no need for you to see it. Thank God that it was only an hour and a half.

But I didn’t mind looking at Jennifer Aniston for 90 minutes!

  1. A search for the term "Peaches Music and Video" brought up your blog. I'm a former employee as well, and thought I'd start a forum for old employees. I know myspace is lame, but I've found a few old co-workers there, so I thought I'd start it there. If I can drum up some interest, I'll move it, but here's where it is for now:

We Peaches employees are used to being asked to leaves clubs and organization, not asked to join them.

    It's a weird feeling.

That leave, not leaves. My bad.
