Thin Lizzy 'Thunder And Lightning'

We Are Keeping Netflix Profiles

Dear Eugene,

You spoke, and we listened. We are keeping Profiles. Thank you for all the calls and emails telling us how important Profiles are.

We are sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused. We hope the next time you hear from us we will delight, and not disappoint, you.

-Your friends at Netflix

Yep. After I made the preemptive strike by placing all my television shows onto my main profile, Netflix sent me that message.

As Doris Day once sang… “Que Sera Sera”. I went back and beefed up my television queue once again and all is right in my world once again.

I finished up season one of The Untouchables and I think I bored everyone with tales about Eliot Ness’ crime adventures.

While watching the show, I learned that Mr. Ness is a footnote in a lot of the history of American crime. That joker was even involved with the assassination attempt on President Franklin D. Roosevelt that ended up killing the one man he was protecting… Chicago Mayor Cermak. Yeah… Capone’s gang put a hit on Cermak, but they didn’t kill the man. The Untouchables caught the guy that was hired to kill the Mayor, but the Mob were blessed by dumb luck when the Mayor got the bullet instead of the intended target when a disenchanted loner was out to kill F.D.R. Crazy and true.

For some reason, I want to tour Chicago to see all the sites where mob hits took place and visit the graves. Is that crazy?

--I watched a couple episodes of Mannix and I wasn’t impressed. When I was a kid, Mannix was a late evening treat that I got to watch with my mother. I loved it! But it just doesn’t hold up now that I’m older. As a matter of fact, I got very bored with it. So I deleted it from my queue after 2 discs. Now I’m moving on to season two of Law & Order.

--I spent Friday evening loading up music on my niece’s MP3 player. I hooked her up with some good, good stuff… Cheap Trick, Circus Of Power, Buddy Holly, Fats Domino, and KISS. She requested the KISS stuff because she’s smart.

I could hear her listening to “Heaven’s On Fire”, “I Was Made For Lovin’ You”, and “I Love It Loud”. She was indeed getting a Grade-A edumacation!

She listened to her MP3 player for about an hour and fell asleep. It warmed my dark little heart.

--Check out the movies playing at the Carolina Theatre this summer!

Make sure you’re at the August 1st showing of one of my all time favorites… Vanishing Point. I’ll be there to make some stage announcements and talk about it before it’s shown.

I know that the film isn’t listed on the website, but my sources tell me that it’s a go!

I could easily stand up there and chat about Vanishing Point for at least a half hour, but I’ll try to limit it to a few minutes. The film has been honored by rock musicians in song and videos by Guns n’ Roses, The Spice Girls, Matthew Sweet, and Audioslave.

The video from Audioslave is definitely the best tribute to Vanishing Point. Just click on the bold Audioslave at the end of the last paragraph to see the video on YouTube. It’s tres’ cool, baby!
