Various Artists 'Carolina Rockabilly Volume 1'

Working at a radio station has a few more perks than the average job out there. One of the best things about working in radio… People are constantly throwing food at you. Whether they’re bringing in food for live on-air tasting, feeding you at live remote broadcasts, or just dropping off some goodies to get you to chat it up on the air… It’s all good.

We get everything from wings to Chinese… Pizza to wraps… Tacos to doughnuts… And we greatly appreciate the free feedings.

During the holidays, there’s even more food around. If clients aren’t bringing new food products into the station… The folks that work here load up the break room table with goodies they don’t want in order to maintain their weight.

No one in the Dick Broadcasting family goes hungry during the holidays.

And for some crazy reason… We’ve gotten quite a lot of food during this past week. I was discussing this with Night Guy Neil Matson and I told him about just living on what is brought into the station… And Neil expressed an idea that I have thought about before… Eating only what comes free and never paying for a meal.

Neil and I hashed around an idea of going a month on the “Free Food Diet”. And I’m just dumb enough to try it.

I have been mulling it over in my mind to attempt this bit of dumbassery during the month of February. I choose February for one reason only… That’s right! It’s the shortest month on the calendar and that’ll make it easier on me. That is if I choose to attempt this bunch of foolishness.

The rules are simple… Only eat what is free. The food from the remotes qualifies. The food brought in by clients, vendors, and other employees also qualifies. The food brought in for all the meetings that take place at the station. If someone would like to take me out to lunch or dinner… Their treat… That’s good too!

I could spend more money on booze. I could purchase a few new CDs with the money I will be saving. After all, I really want that expanded Def Leppard ‘Hysteria’ collection.

What do you think? Should I attempt it? Should we start up a betting pool?

I will gladly post on this blog what I eat every day to keep things on the up and up.

Let me know… Post a comment.

I LOVE it. You could also plug that on air, and could challengs someone on the 2GNC show to do it with you (which would ensure a steady stream of freebies, but could perhaps qualify as cheating. I don't know).

Call me if you get hungry - I'll take you to lunch one day. :)

    I say do it.

I won't buy you food, because I'm poor, but I will laugh at you when you're hungry. Ha!
