The Tom Russell Band 'Hurricane Season'

I’m kinda bummed about the cancellation of the Dakar Rally. It seems that terrorists think that screwing around with a 2 continent off-road rally through unpopulated sandy areas too tasty of a target. Or perhaps the terrorists look at all those Hummers and motorcycles as practice when they go racing by… You know… The same way fair-going hillbillies view popping ducks in a shooting gallery.

I was planning on watching some of it on one of the motorsports networks to see how my dude Robby Gordon was getting along. He’s the only American to win one of those things ya know.

And speaking of Robby Gordon… He’s going to run a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass in the first ever Car Of Yesterday non-points race later this year. Check it out!

--I was talking with Ronie Alexander on Friday about her BIG concert announcement she was making later in the afternoon. Def Leppard are coming to the Greensboro Coliseum in late March along with Styx and REO Speedwagon. I am fairly excited about it! I dig the Leppard. I can get down on some Speedwagon and Styx is just the cute girl that’s coming along for a distraction (never been that much of a Styx fan).

After I shared my joy of this event coming to Greensboro with Ronie… We paused a few seconds to realize something… Ronie asked, “What year is this?”

“The Absorbine Junior will flow like wine,” I said… Clearly taking a stab at the average age of the attendees.

I would like to get the entire Rock 92 air staff together for this event. For some reason, I think it would be cool for us to rent one of those short buses that limo providers have… All of us get Otis Campbell drunk… And we all make asses out of ourselves at the concert. It would be easy to spot us because we’d all be wearing those cool Rock 92 Hanes Beefy-T t-shirts!

I just want us to time warp it back to 1983. Maybe I’m just a dreamer, but I think it would be great fun!

Before I’m out… Go REDSKINS!!!

We made it to the playoffs with the added bonus of beating the Dallas Cowboys to get there!

And just the other day… I got the Chris Kelly guarantee that Washington will beat Seattle. I feel confident with his guarantee, but others like Demm, Deidre, and Weather Dave have told me that the Kelly guarantee is the “kiss of death”.

We shall see.

I saw Def Leppard back when the drummer still had both of his arms, and REO Speedwagon back when I was still in high school. (Both a very loooooooooong time ago).

I never saw Styx, though (I'm not much of a fan, and can never hear Come Sail Away again without singing it like Eric Cartman from South Park.

I think that wearing my Rock 92 tee, getting happily drunk and going to that show sounds like a fine idea indeed. Although I prefer this wicked hot/cold gel that I have to the Absorbine Junior. :)
