Nick Heyward 'I Love You Avenue'

The title of each blog is the musical choice of the day. When I pulled this out of my rotation to put into my CD player, I realized that I had no idea who Nick Heyward is or was. I know that I got the CD when it was released in 1988 and I was working at Peaches Music & Video in Greensboro. It has been in my collection for almost 19 years and I’ve never listened to it. FYI: It's out of print and according to eBay, not valuable.

When I got to work and I was able to Google Mr. Heyward, I found that he was member of a band called Haircut 100. For the life of me, I know nothing about the band other than using their name when I acknowledge someone’s haircut. For example.... “What’s shakin’ there, Haircut 100?”

I’ve been slowly and surely catching up on my television viewing habits. The current season of Nip/Tuck ended this past Tuesday and it has been full of crazy ass stuff.

Julia has been knocking boots with a dwarf. Sean shagged a crazy nurse hired to care for his special needs child. She was eventually ran down and splattered across the road by a 3:15 bus. Christian gave the Freudian slip to Brooke Shields who in turn had “Property of Christian Troy” tattooed on her lower back. Jacqueline Bissett ran an escort business and when needed, would smash up a face of a call girl in order to have it surgically altered to protect her interests. And when she wasn’t hooking up Johns, she was doing a little sideline business with illegally extracted kidneys. Dr. Troy started falling in love with his boss, a woman that worked her way through medical school by turning tricks for Bissett and extracting kidneys. When her husband, Larry Hagman, discovered the Troy/boss affair… He decided to have them act out their passions in front of him. And did I mention that Dr. Troy banged Rosie O’Donnell?

The last season of Nip/Tuck, in my opinion, was the craziest ever!

It was over the top and completely unbelievable. It was good cheesy fun, but it did have its share of duds.

I still have yet to finish it; so don’t give anything away to me. Okay?

Supernatural has been on a good ride this year. I have no complaints there. In fact, I would say that the show has gotten better in its sophomore year.

Heroes is an awesome show that is currently taking a midseason break. I didn’t know what to expect when it came out. The show has been one of those “I can’t wait to see the next one” types of series.

Veronica Mars has really been good this year too. I just watched one on tape where the father from The Nanny was married to Patty Hearst. Ahhhh… That’s some good casting.

Medium started the new season off with a creepy episode where Allyson’s daughter started having the same dreams. Only her dreams were acted out in the form of Monkeyheads cartoons. It was very cool and effectively eerie.

My Name Is Earl is as funny, if not funnier this season. If you’re not a fan of Earl, then in my opinion, you have problems.

My friend Christine recently chastised me about The Ghost Whisperer. She tried season one on DVD from Blockbuster (she’s a Netflix refugee) and she DID NOT LIKE IT! She said it was as cheesy as Touched By An Angel, a show that I have never seen.

The cheesiness of The Ghost Whisperer is what I like about it. And I also like the fact that the show is “cleavage intensive”. You can’t go two scenes without some boob crevice. Plus, the show is so cheesy bad that it’s great.

I apologized to Christine because I thought that the cheesiness about The Ghost Whisperer was implied.

I still haven’t seen the first episode of the second and current season. I’m guessing that because I haven’t seen the hot black chick, that she has “crossed over”. Why they had to kill her off, I don’t know. This season, they added the heavy chick from some Law And Order show. Or that’s at least where I think she came from. I don’t know her name, but I know that large women across the country were happy to see her on the tube instead of some waif strutting around in high-heels.

Over the weekend, I managed to watch the premiere of Daybreak starring Taye Diggs. It’s kind of like Groundhog Day meets The Fugitive. I’ve got two hours under my belt and my appetite is whet for more.

I still have about 30 hours of shows on VHS tape to watch in order to being caught up with everything. My goal is to be totally up to date by the New Year.

All those shows and nothing I can really comment on because the only one I "watch" is Earl. And my Earl watching this season has been reduced to saying I am going to watch it, taping it, and then taping over it with The Office. I need a better system for that.

I guess I am the only person on the planet not watching Heroes. I have a firm belief that is sucks, and that is without having watched a single episode. Too nerdy. One has to draw the line somewhere.

I can add a warning not to get too attached to Daybreak. It is getting pulled from it's Wednesday slot on the 27th and there is no word on when the last four episodes are going to air.

13+ years of recommending movies and TV shows to me and you still haven't learned that the only cheese I like is melted atop my burgers.

    I adore Earl.

I think it's because in my younger years, I dated the pre-rehabilitated "Earl type". A lot. And that's the way it was, and I liked it.

Looks like they are pulling the plug on your beloved Daybreak even sooner than expected. What are they replacing it with? Reruns of George Lopez and According to Jim. Reruns! I am mad at that, and I don't even watch it. This is exactly the reason why have a hard time getting into new shows.
