“Weird” Al Yankovic ‘Straight Outta Lynwood’

Today’s musical choice is one of my first CD’s by “Weird” Al and it’s also my first DualDisc release. At first, I thought it was cool because it’s a DVD on one side with the audio in 5.1 Surround Sound (which I don’t have), karaoke mixes, a behind-the-scenes documentary, and 6 brand new videos but, it comes with a price. Upon putting the CD in the player, the very first track skips like hell.

I pulled it from the player and inspected the CD side of the disc and there isn’t a mark on it. No scratches and no fingerprints. I put it back in the player and the same thing happened. It sounded like someone was holding down the forward scan button. So I’m guessing that it’s something that I’m going to have to live with if I want the DualDisc technology.

It’s Saturday and I have managed to acquire the new KISS DVD set, ‘KISSology Volume One’. I finally found the time. Now I just have to find the time to watch the damn thing.

But I did manage to take care of my irrational fear… Yes! I purchased a bottle of 150 chewable Vitamin C tablets!

I picked up my carton of Alavert for my allergies and managed to remember my fear of scurvy. The vitamin row at the new Target is only a few aisles away from the cold and allergy section… Whew!

My days of living with the fears of scurvy are over! I am no longer living under the iron fist of an irrational worry. I’ll be getting 833% of the daily-recommended allowance of Vitamin C. My friends will stop laughing in my face when I reach out and open myself up to them. A new day has in fact arrived!

I did manage to think of a ribbon for the scurvy foundation I’m proposing. The ribbon, of course, will be orange. But I’m having trouble coming up with a catchy acronym for the foundation. I’ve got a few ideas, but nothing is really knocking me over.

I recently had the time to watch Click. And I found it to be a wonderful flick to do laundry to!

Yeah… It’s that boring.

The last two movies from Adam Sandler have really been letting me down. Spanglish bit the big burrito and Click motivated me to do household chores instead of devoting time and attention to it.

Some will say that Sandler has never really made a good flick, but I disagree. I’m hoping this is going to be a lull for his career.

And now that I’m thinking about it, he has quite a few duds on his résumé. I didn’t like Mr. Deeds or that movie where he’s Satan’s lackluster offspring. There’s even one movie where I can’t think of the title where Sandler plays serious.

Hmmmm… Perhaps I’m having a moment of clarity here… Maybe his movies, for the most part, do indeed suck.

Oh well.

I finally saw the first episode of Jericho and I must say that I am definitely NOT impressed. It’s a good idea, but the execution is cheesy. It’s a “feel good” type of show and the music is thick and dripping with notes that cause most (not me though because I’m an insensitive bastard) folks to care deeply.

In my opinion, the music should be used to piss you off. I’m thinking something along the lines of 24. There should be music to push the “action” button instead of causing people to reach for a Kleenex or look at each other and smile like the scenes in the movie Airplane!.

I still have a few more episodes of Jericho on tape and I’m going to watch them. That is until I just can’t take the cheesy stuff anymore.

The only show that I’ve been keeping up to date with is Battlestar Galactica. And that show is still kicking ass, baby!

    Hey Eugene,
Don't be scurred of scury? According to my guidebook for the PC version of Oregon Trail (yes, THE Oregon Trail from computer labs back in the day) pickles will prevent the scury so suck on a dill and you'll be alright!
Jericho gets bteer, just hang if you can. I'm off to watch Pervs Eating Cookies! See you soon!

  4. Deidre,

I detest pickles. My personal belief is this... There would be world peace if pickles didn't exist.

My friend and frequent commentor called me up the other day and told me that potatos are FILLED with Vitamin C. So I guess I'm all right there.

Adam Sandler's movies, for the most part, DO indeed suck.

I will freely admit that I loved Happy Gilmore, though.

The other dumb-as-shit movie from an over-rated SNL alum that I absolutely adore is Meet Joe Dirt. How's that for a guilty pleasure?
