Cheap Trick ‘In Color’

I have decided that I must accept the fact that I’m getting up in years. First of all, I’ve accepted that women 25 or younger are off my list when it comes to dating. They’re interested in drinking too much and hanging out with friends all the time. And I’m not saying that with the older man knows better tone, I’m saying that because the women in that age bracket that I work with and know do just that. They drink to excess and hang out with friends until all hours of the morning. A couple of the ladies that I work with even invited a whole bar to their home after the bar closed.

Crazy.

Second of all, I’m starting to forget a lot more things than I used to. I have taken to heart something that Rock 92 receptionist Nicole and 1075 KZL DJ Coup DeLicious do every day… They make lists.

Monday night, I forgot something that was very important. Or, I should say that I lost something pertaining to that important event.

I had a prize sheet that I filled out and neglected to put it on Nicole’s desk. I don’t know what I did with it. I have turned everything in my desk upside down looking for it. The weird thing, although I misplaced the prize sheet, I managed to remember the winner’s name, hometown, and email address.

Then I forgot something the next day and after talking to Coup, I decided that it was time to buy a small spiral notebook and start making those daily lists. I guess that once you get to the doorstep of 40, your mind stops hitting on all cylinders all the time.

I have accepted it and I don’t mind getting older. The tiny bit of gray in my hair gives me that “distinguished” look. And I must say, I have all my hair and for that I’m very thankful.

I don’t look my age and when I’m clean-shaven, I get carded at bars, grocery stores, and at the ABC store. A lot of people guess that I’m ten years younger than I really am. I’ve been blessed with a “baby face”.

I have found that making a list is very helpful. I don’t forget things that I have to do and I seem to get them done long before I have to. And when I strike something from my list, there’s a certain kind of feeling of accomplishment inside. Lists are definitely a “feel good” kind of thing and I’m digging it. I also put the most mundane things on there… like setting my VCR to record things. I list my blog as a “to do” and uploading them too. I even remind myself to drop my Netflix returns in the mailbox. There’s nothing too small for my list.

I watched ‘A History Of Violence’ the other day and I really liked it. Ed Harris really gave his character a sense of danger or, it could have just been the make-up effects that made him look that way. No… He gave the character a sense of creepiness. I gave the film full 5 stars on the Netflix grading system.

And Netflix hasn’t been “throttling” me like they used to. If they received 3 from me, they either send 3 or 2 and I’m cool with that. My biggest gripe about the “throttling” was that Netflix claims that subscribers can get as many rentals as they want. It isn’t true because they withhold them a day before mailing. And therefore I’m not getting as many as I want.

Here as of late, I haven’t had a whole lot of time to watch movies… Dammit.

I have ‘The Godfather’ and ‘The 40 Year Old Virgin’ sitting on my entertainment center right now. I may not get the time to watch them all weekend. I’m also sitting on 4 videotapes full of my shows that need to be watched along with season 5 of ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ that I borrowed from Deidre.

I hate when making a living interferes with entertaining myself.
