UFO 'Phenomenon'

What is the deal with computers? Why do they always act up and cause me great anger?

I finished my workout and I’m all sweaty going over my thoughts about what to write… And the damn thing just doesn’t want to get going. I double-click the Word program and nothing is happening. I go through all the ctrl-alt-deletes crap and finally hit the button to turn the dreadful thing off. Is that called a “cold boot”? I can’t remember. I know that I once heard the term in computer classes back in High School during the early 80’s or maybe from my brother in geekness, Jonathan Everett.

Anyway, as you can see, I got it up and running.

I deal with computers all the time at work and for the most part, they cooperate with me. Last night, I had a problem with the PC in the Promotions office and had to give it the “cold boot”. And all I wanted to do was upload my blog to make a rare Sunday entry.

That’s right! If you missed it over the weekend, there’s a fresh new blog entry right below this one. And, if I haven’t thanked you for reading in a while, please accept my apologies. Thank you for reading. I’ve found this blog to be a great way to exorcise the day-to-day demons from my head. And hopefully, I’ve made it somewhat entertaining. I recommend blogging to anyone who likes to write. Send me a link if you have a blog already.

I don’t know why I’ve been saving it until now, but I’m really enjoying the new season of ‘24’ on FOX. I spent the best part of 2005 catching up with the entire series so that I could be ready for season 5 when it premiered over a week ago.

‘24’ is one of the best televisions shows to come out in a long time. I don’t know how they manage to keep up with the pace, but they do. The character of Jack Bauer is probably one of the baddest asses ever in television history.

I scoffed when the promos started on television about ‘24’. I thought for sure it was going to suck or if it was as good as they made it out to be, the audience wouldn’t show up and watch. Remember ‘Boomtown’ anyone?

Within the first 15 minutes of season 5 of ‘24’, two characters that have been along for most of the ride were killed off. As a fan of realism, I immensely enjoyed that.

Think about it… If you work in a dangerous field where other folks are trying to kill you, eventually the odds will catch up with you. President Palmer and this chick that married Tony Almeida on ‘24’ took a dirt nap faster than a stillborn baby. Bauer has been in hiding since he faked his death last season. He has come out since the terrorists are setting him up to make it look like Bauer murdered them. It all still hasn’t become even carnival glass clear yet as to who’s pulling the strings, but that’s the fun of ‘24’. There are red herrings everywhere and it’s fun to guess along the way. And every so often, you get the satisfaction of pointing to the television and shouting “I KNEW IT!”

As for the season premiere of ‘The Shield’, it looks as if the show has gotten its groove back. “Sarah Plain and Tall” is gone and Forrest Whitaker has taken up residence in the Internal Affairs department of the Police Force. It’s become apparent that he’s after Vic and his Strike Force.

Last year, I missed a couple of episodes and it didn’t seem to matter because I didn’t miss anything. This year, things may be different.

I’m saddened to report that CBS has cancelled ‘Threshold’. It was a great show filled with great promise if you’re into science fiction. Oh well, what can you do?

‘Lost’ has really thrown me a few curve balls. I didn’t expect the black guy from the tail-section to be a super nasty drug dealer… And now he’s turned over a new leaf and the show leads me to believe that he’s now a reaffirmed man of the cloth. Hell, the cat stared down that weird black cloud that makes it appearance from time to time. I think the cloud represents the evils in this world… Never mind.

Tonight, I’m taping ‘Surface’ (still keeping my attention), ‘24’, and ‘Medium’. Then on another VCR, I’ll be taping ‘Monday Night Raw’. I really need three VCR’s

It's a hard reboot. Cold and hard. Those two words dont go well together.
