White Zombie 'Astro-Creep 2000'

I got a phone call this past Saturday morning from Tracy Thornton. He was in Houston, Texas and he sounded as if he just woke up.

He was all excited about his latest CD. He spent most of Friday emailing back and forth with MTV’s News Lord, Kurt Loder.

Mr. Loder was very excited about Tracy’s new CD, ‘Pan Is For Punks’. It’s a tribute to The Ramones. But, what makes this a little different… Tracy plays steel drums as well as all the other instruments on the record.

I was there for a lot of the recording and I practically begged Tracy for the mixing duties on his least favorite song. He reluctantly agreed and I waited a week until I gave up hope of mixing the song. I know that Tracy is the type of guy who works and works until the duty is completed.

Now that Tracy has a buzz going on about his new record, he’s afraid that if it breaks big that I will sue him because he reneged on the agreement. That’s not going to happen. Tracy and I go way back to High School where we joined our mighty forces together with Dan Lively, Joe Williams, and Jonathan Everett to make some GYC Battle Of The Bands contest slaying music together. So, I’ve known Tracy for over 20 years.

I’m extremely happy for Tracy. He called to tell me about Kurt Loder writing about the CD on MTV.com, so check that out. He was also excited about flying up to New York City for a television interview about the new disc. His website www.tracythornton.com and www.panforpunks.com was getting more and more hits everyday.

I’ve heard the CD in the making and I’ve heard the final product. It’s available for download at the panforpunks.com site. Go and check it out for yourself. It’s a fun record and it’s very kid-friendly. As a matter of fact, it’s a great way to introduce The Ramones to kids. A steel pan version of “The KKK Took My Baby Away” will surely bring families closer together.

Tracy Thornton is a hometown guy from Summerfield so lets wish him all the luck in the world. We want him to become rich and famous and move away, far away. J

Switching gears now… Did you see the ECW pay-per-view last Sunday night?

It was AWESOME! I’m excited about the possibility of Extreme Championship Wrestling becoming a regular program again. I don’t think that Vince McMahon will let dollars slip through his fingers. The figures aren’t out yet, but I think the buy rate for the PPV was greater than any of his ‘Wrestlemania’ broadcasts. The replay of the event is running all week long and that’s practically unheard of.

All of the wrestling fans that I know have been talking about the PPV and how good it was.

ECW has always allowed the fans “inside” by giving you unadulterated insight into rumors. They don’t hide the fact that a lot of the storylines are in fact, storylines. And the fans are like no other group of fans. We like violence, blood, barbed wire, and we can also appreciate the mat skills that the wrestlers possess. We chant for blood and then we’ll turn around and applaud traditional wrestling moves when they are executed to perfection.

ECW fans are different and we’re waiting to see if the WWE will give us a damn good product by bringing it back.

Any chance Tracy's album will be available by conventional method? A record store, for example? My computer is ancient and refuses to support any kind of download deal.
