The Non-Conformist Cult Radio Show 11/02/01

You know, I never quite expected the responses that I received from my last blog. I appreciate the support and words of comfort, but I am not in despair. I was simply working out my feelings and emotions by purging. You know… Talking it out, so to speak.

As they say in Cairo, it’s all good.

The season finale of The Closer was a total disappointment. Oh sure, the main storyline was cool and all that, but I expected more. I wanted a relationship cliffhanger, but I didn’t get it. The big let down from those last two episodes dropped the season’s Netflix rating from 5 stars to 4.

And why is it that Brenda Lee Johnson can’t ever have a case that she can’t solve?

That’s one of the things I loved about Homicide: Life On The Streets. Detective Bayliss’ very first case was never solved. It kept gnawing at him. The unsolved case deepened the character as much as it haunted him.

Brenda Lee’s character has plenty of quirks that I like… She menopausal and has a sweet tooth as big as a wedding cake. The character is layered with secrets too… Like the affair she once had with her current supervisor.

I honestly believe that if she were to have an unsolvable case… That it would totally add a new dimension to an already great show.

And the season finale of Rescue Me kind of left me sour too…

I don’t want to give anything away, Bebo… But it just didn’t go off with a bang. And yet I don’t mind. There are plenty of open questions that will be answered next season, I’m sure. They just don’t cause me to go, “DAMN! I NEED ANSWERS!”

Oh well.

Vanishing Point is a film that I grew up watching every year in the 1970’s when there was such a thing as The CBS Sunday Night Movie. I linked the ending yesterday to my blog… An ending that left my young mind bewildered with every viewing.

Vanishing Point is considered a cult classic, although it should be heralded as one of the greatest American films ever made.

If you’ve never seen it, do yourself a favor and go ahead and purchase a copy on DVD. Even if you don’t end up liking it… If found on your viewing shelves during parties, the hipsters will hold you in high regard.
