Kelly Clarkson 'My December'

The title of each blog is my musical choice of the day… And yes, I like Kelly Clarkson. I’m not afraid to admit it. She’s one helluva singer, a good songwriter, and she’s easy on my peepers. Yeah, that’s right. I think Kelly Clarkson is hot.

Just last week, I was out purchasing 45 cans of Spam for this Sunday’s Bubbalympics at Wet n’ Wild Emerald Pointe… And I noticed that some magazine was picking on her current weight. They had two pictures side by side. One was of her during her time on that American Idol crap and the other was a more recent picture.

She was super thin during the AI period and now… According to that magazine… Her garments have to be researched, developed, and manufactured by the technological folks at Goodyear.

I remember seeing her perform before a NASCAR Nextel Cup Race early this season and someone said… "You know… I think Kelly has put on some pounds…”

And I think my comeback was this… “And I would lick each and every one of them!”

I never thought much about Clarkson during her trials and tribulations on AI… I just couldn’t give two used tissues about it. My mind was changed when I reviewed her concert with Clay Aiken at the LJVM Coliseum in Winston-Salem a few years ago. I was assigned to review the show for the Greensboro New & Record.

Normally, the seats provided to you are off to the side or in the back somewhere. When I got the envelope from Will Call and looked inside… Imagine my surprise to find our seats on the front row.

That’s right! In front of Clay-Mates who had traveled hundreds of miles and spent upwards of $500 bucks for their second row seats. And I didn’t even want to sit there because I couldn’t see the whole stage. I mean… If you’re going to review a concert, you should have a good viewpoint where the entire stage is visible. Not just 30 or so feet.

I had been listening to the ‘Thankful’ CD for about 2 weeks so I would know the songs, but I had no idea that she is so beautiful. Or how great a singer she truly is. Then I got to meet her backstage after the show… She was incredibly sweet and seemingly excited to meet every fan backstage. She was very personable and I would have gladly eaten my way through a cat box buffet for a five minute backstage latex tussle with her… Good Lord!!! (That’s a Chili reference for someone in the know).

Meanwhile… Clay’s people asked that no one speak to Clay… He was “saving” his voice for the next show… Two weeks later. Yeah… Whatta douche bag prima donna! I suppose that explains his lack of success since his first release.

But anyway… I like Kelly Clarkson. She’s a hard rocker and a soulful singer of ballads. Throw in her beauty and she’s a “Lex Luger”… The total package.

And by the way… I gave Ms. Clarkson a glowing review! Clay got a lukewarm review out of me. The Clay-Mates took exception and considered my review to be a bad one for Aiken. I got a lot of “hate” emails from all over the country. One of the ladies actually took the time to write a letter to the Editor of the Greensboro News & Record. She is a well-respected veterinarian specializing in cats, but seemingly had a LOT of time on her hands to defend a prima donna douche bag.

That letter to the Editor was a shining moment for me! I still have it and perhaps one day I’ll get it framed.
