Def Leppard ‘YEAH!’

That’s right! The album doesn’t go on sale until the 23rd and here I am listening to a fresh copy. And since it isn’t on store shelves yet, then I guess it can be considered pre-fresh. Would that be correct? Nah, who cares?

I’ve been a Leppard fan since I first heard the ‘On Through The Night’ album many moons ago. This album ‘YEAH!’, is a collection of their favorite songs done in the Def Leppard style. And since I’m a fan of British rock and pop, I digging the hell out of it. I’m all about Sweet, Thin Lizzy, David Bowie, Badfinger, and the Kinks. And if you feel the same, pick up this CD.

I’ve been waiting for a paper shredder to fall into my lap for sometime now. I shred anything with any type of personal information. All my bills… Get shredded. Any credit card offers… See the shredder. Anything I don’t want others reading… You got it. All are off to see the shredder.

It has been a need of mine for at least three years, but I always find something else to take any spare money that I have to purchase a shredder. So, it got pushed back and every little slip of paper with personal information got thrown into a paper grocery sack. As a matter of fact, the sack was overflowing with things that needed a good shredding.

Lo and behold, a shredder seemingly fell from the sky today and a good thing came to one individual who waited… Me.

I spent about 30 minutes shredding documents dated as far back as 2000. Cancelled checks, the parts of bills that you don’t send in, and those pesky credit card offers. I was moving through them like cats going through a Chinese kitchen. Oh, it was glorious! A big bag of paper was finally being put to rest and besides… It’s fun using a shredder.

As I sit here and write this, I can’t help feeling a little depressed. Has my life been reduced to this?

Why am I getting so excited about a shredder?

Perhaps psychologically… It’s the “dealing with the past and cleaning it up” kind of thing. Maybe it’s like a purging and “out with the old” is always a good thing.

Whatever it is… I am happy. Sure it may seem a little pathetic to you that I’m excited about a shredder, but again… I’m happy. And happy is always good.

Now back to unreality… Christine and the Greensboro News & Record have given me more news about some of my favorite television shows. Surface and Invasion are gone. I’m not all that upset about those. I don’t have any real emotional investment in those shows so it doesn’t really bother me much. I just hate not seeing those shows to conclusion.

After I post this, I should know whether or not I won an auction on eBay. I have been bidding on 3 jars of formaldehyde animals. They were constant props in Malcolm’s room on Malcolm in the Middle.

I have asked for prayers from my core of friends that slightly understand why I would want such things. Others quite frankly didn’t understand it. Either way, I will know in a short while whether I’m the owner of some television history.

    Dear Eugene,

I like you. I really, really like you.

And, should you somehow get possession of Tom Petty's new album before its July 11 (I think that's the latest release date), I would very much be interested in hearing it.

    :)

Nabbing albums from the future. Shredding documents of the past. You got a time machine, don't you?

  3. Bebo... Since we go way back... unfortunately without any exchange of bodily fluids... I'll keep you in mind if it found it's way into my grubby little hands

*drool* I'm so excited about the concert on June 9. You NEED to see Tom Petty if you have the opportunity -- he does an awesome live show. Holler if you get tix and I'll tell you where we're sitting (FOURTH ROW!)

And on a totally unrelated note -- are you going to see Dwight Yoakam at Corpening Plaza? I've noticed some country selections in your blog titles... I'm working on getting a sitter so I can go.
