Vivian Campbell 'Two Sides Of If'

Funny... Today's post is about Def Leppard and here I am listening to one of their guitarist's solo CD. The lovely Marcia Gan gave it to me and I'm giving it a spin. Because, the title of each blog is the music that I'm listening on the day that I update.

Def Leppard were very good. The band was tight and the sound was awesome. The only thing that didn't come off well was Joe Elliot's voice. Yeah, it has been raked over the coals for years. "Photograph" is a very hard song to sing. And now that Elliott's voice has seen better days, you can truly hear how difficult the heights are to reach in that song.

I was shocked. SHOCKED(!), I tell you, about Def Leppard only doing one song from their early days. They only did "Bringin' On The Heartbreak" from 'High n' Dry'. They didn't touch "Me And My Wine", "Let It Go", or "Lady Strange". I was disgusted until I thought about it later. Elliott couldn't hit half of those notes if wanted to.

Tim Beeman and myself wondered the same thing about Queensryche's Geoff Tate a few years ago on the 'Q2K' tour. We were told that Tate could bring home the bacon, but he couldn't get it in the pan.

Def Leppard... I'll give them a solid 'B' grade for last Saturday's show in Raleigh.

When Tim and I were out in the parking lot, I got an unexpected call from a number that I recognized from earlier in the day. It was Julie.

Ryan had called her on my cell phone and left a message with the person that answered. I made a mental note of the number that he dialed. I don't know why, I just did. I'm weird that way.

Julie got home and saw the "strange" number on her cellphone and decided to call it.

I'm the kind of guy that will screw with your head and I did so with Julie. I knew all about the clothes that she had on all the way to what color her toenails were painted. I found out almost everything but her religious beliefs.

Maybe I should call her back. She said that I could. Hmmmmm

If she's an Orthodox Druid, give me her number. That's the kind of womans I want to meet.

  3. Yeah, those high notes get harder to hit in old age.
